Why The Knowing Self program?
At The Knowing Self, we help people uncover what truly drives their behaviour—and transform the way they lead, connect, and show up in the world.
We go beneath the surface.
Our program brings to light the emotions, beliefs, and stories that influence how we act, how we relate, and how we respond to life’s challenges. Through honest reflection, powerful conversations, and practical tools, participants gain the clarity to lead themselves and others with confidence, strength, and compassion.
In today’s world, where conflict, misunderstanding, and disconnection are common, this program isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s a necessity.
What makes The Knowing Self Different?
We truly connect.
Our sessions are designed to engage the whole person; mind, heart, and actions. Whether we’re working with students, teachers, or parents, we help people understand what’s really going on beneath the surface, within themselves and in their relationships.
We support schools to shift culture.
There are many one-off feel-good sessions out there, but we aren’t one of them. The Knowing Self is a comprehensive, long-term approach that builds shared language, deepens emotional literacy, and lays the foundation for psychologically safe and values-driven communities.
A whole community Approach
For Students (Years 5–10):
Age-specific programs help young people explore their values, manage emotions, strengthen peer relationships, and build self-awareness. Sessions are aligned to the emotional and social needs of each year level and evolve over time. For returning schools, we build on earlier learning; for new schools, we provide a strong foundation.
For Teachers and Coaches:
We provide tools and strategies to support meaningful conversations, manage behaviour with curiosity, and strengthen team and classroom culture. These sessions help adults lead with presence, awareness, and emotional integrity.
For Parents:
Our parent sessions offer insight, perspective, and tools to navigate today’s challenges with greater connection, understanding, and emotional leadership in the home.
Lasting Impact
Self-awareness isn’t a skill we tick off. It’s a lifelong practice, and one that changes everything.
When people understand their internal world and its influence on their choices, they communicate more clearly, take greater ownership, and approach relationships with empathy and strength. That’s how we create real change, in schools, in families, and in communities.
The Knowing Self helps people
Recognise emotions in themselves and others
Understand the story behind behaviours
Build greater awareness of their impact
Improve relationships through curiosity and values-based leadership
Strengthen emotional regulation and resilience
Communicate effectively under stress
Create environments of psychological safety
It takes a village. we support the whole one
“It felt like a reset. I actually feel like I know who I am now, not just who people expect me to be.”
“It changed how I parent. My daughter and I are finally speaking the same language again.”
Why this matters
The Knowing Self is a response to what’s playing out in nearly every school, every year level, every friendship circle.
My daughter was in Year 7 when a friendship breakdown turned into something far more painful than we could have imagined. It started with a group decision about who belonged, and who didn’t—and ended with my daughter being the one excluded, isolated, and struggling to cope.
What followed was the scariest period of my life. Her mental health plummeted, and I was forced to confront not just what was happening for her, but also what was happening within me. The way I led with fear. The way I unknowingly made her feel judged when what she needed most was safety.
I also saw something else:
How common this is.
How parents struggle to see that good kids can still make harmful choices.
How many schools are left without the tools to respond to emotional pain in real time.
How shame, silence, and disconnection grow when we don’t have the language to understand what’s underneath it all.
That’s when the question landed:
What do young people need to know and understand—about themselves and each other—so fewer families end up where we did?
That question became The Knowing Self.
This work is deeply personal, and that’s what makes it powerful.
“Everyone carries a story. When we understand it, everything changes”
“behind every behaviour is something unseen”
Support For the Adults Who Shape Young People
At The Knowing Self, we don’t just work with students, we equip the adults around them to lead with presence, empathy, and courage.
When the adults in a young person’s life are self-aware and emotionally attuned, the ripple effect is powerful and lasting.
For Parents and caregivers
Connection starts with understanding.
Our sessions help parents move beyond frustration and fear, into clarity and connection. We explore what’s behind your child’s behaviour, offer tools to de-escalate emotion, and support you in raising emotionally resilient young people, without the guilt or guesswork.
For EDUCATORS
Teach from a place of awareness. Lead with compassion.
We support teachers to create classroom cultures built on psychological safety and trust. Through practical strategies and emotional intelligence, educators learn to understand behaviour, not take it personally, and respond in ways that build connection and growth.
For sporting Coaches
More than skills. It’s about shaping character.
Coaches play a critical role in shaping how young people see themselves and interact with others. We help you lead with purpose—building team cultures grounded in respect, connection, and personal leadership.
When Adults Show the Way, Young People Follow
When the adults in a young person’s life develop emotional intelligence and self-awareness, they don’t just manage their own behaviour, they model what it means to lead with empathy, boundaries, and integrity.
This creates a ripple effect. Young people learn by example to navigate their emotions, repair relationships, and show up with confidence and care, now and forever.
Together, we’re shaping a generation of emotionally intelligent, self-led individuals who are prepared to thrive, not just at school, but in life.

Year Five to Year SIX
Leading Ourselves, Understanding Others
Building Stronger Friendships, Safer Communities, and Self-Aware Leaders
Upper primary is a critical moment in a child’s development—the bridge between childhood and adolescence. It’s when friendships become more complex, peer influence intensifies, and self-image starts to form. It’s also when we can lay the foundation for confident, compassionate, and self-aware leadership. here

YEAR Seven to year EIGHT
The Foundations Program
Understanding Self. Connecting with Others.
In these pivotal years, students begin shaping their identity and navigating complex emotions. Our program helps them recognise their emotional triggers, explore why they react the way they do, and learn the power of responding with intention.
We guide students through perspective-taking, communication, emotional regulation, and self-reflection. The result? Greater empathy, personal insight, and stronger relationships—with themselves and others.

year nine and ten
The Personal Leadership Program
Leading Yourself. Impacting Others.
This stage of adolescence demands a deeper level of reflection and responsibility. Our senior program challenges students to explore their values, take ownership of their impact, and align their behaviour with the person they want to become.
Through emotionally intelligent leadership tools, real-world examples, and deep conversations, students learn how to show up with compassion, clarity, and courage—in school and beyond.
Additional Resources for Schools
Every TKS program comes with:
A Teacher Resource Pack to help embed program concepts in the classroom
A Parent Pack to extend learning into the home
Printable Reflection Tools to reinforce student learning between sessions
These resources ensure the impact of each session goes beyond the day itself—and becomes part of the school community’s ongoing language and growth.
